Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

Bringing Our Best Selves Forward

At The Players, our key values have long focused on welcome, camaraderie, and good cheer. Ensuring that every visitor in our clubhouse experiences those qualities and feels a sense of belonging is a priority for all of us.

Alongside the arts communities who form our foundation and the city that is our home, we recognize and embrace the strength that comes from wide-ranging measures of diversity. Among these are culture and nationality, faith, race, ethnicity, gender and identity, sexual orientation, and generational difference.

As Players, we share responsibility on issues of artistic, social, and economic justice in order to expand our welcoming, vibrant club community. We actively work to fulfill the promise of respect and dignity for all members, guests, and staff.

Through our internal work and partnerships with arts-centered organizations, we continue to grow as a membership club that welcomes, values, and represents a wide range of backgrounds and points of view.

Committee Leadership

Formed in July 2020, an Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Committee works on independent initiatives and with other key club committees to expand efforts toward a more diverse and inclusive club in its services, activities, policies, communications, and products. The Committee meets monthly to discuss, communicate, and actively collaborate with members of the Board of Directors and committee chairs to suggest and help implement measures that enhance the club's environment for diversity, inclusion, and equity.

Among its inaugural clubwide activities, the Committee has hosted programs with performing arts organizations such as BOLD and CAAPA: The Coalition for African Americans in the Performing Arts. In January 2022, the Committee hosted a post-show meet and greet and celebration at the clubhouse with company members from the Roundabout Theatre production of Caroline, or Change. The Committee has also launched special member programming for Black History Month, Hispanic Heritage celebrations, and coordinated Pride festivities in the clubhouse. The Committee welcomes inquiries regarding partnerships and artist outreach events by submitting the form below.
