The Balcony

Glass doors open off the Alcove onto the Balcony, the only one of its kind overlooking the private precincts of Gramercy Park. The park's centerpiece is the full-length bronze statue of Edwin Booth as Hamlet atop a granite pedestal, placed there in 1918 and refurbished for its centenary celebration in 2018.

Since the award-winning restoration of the building's façade by the Players Preservation Fund in 2015, members have enjoyed comfortable seating in this aerie, decorated with flourishes of ornate ironwork. It provides an extraordinary four-season view of the landscaped park. At Christmas time, the space traditionally frames Victorian carolers serenading passers-by during the club's holiday celebrations.
